Clifton Public Schools is one of the larger school districts in New Jersey, operating a portfolio of buildings of varying age and mechanical history.

A district of this size faces a problem that a single building owner does not. Every school carries its own mechanical history, while the facilities team operates centrally. Without a common control layer, each building has to be understood on its own terms.

Advanced Integration and Customer Requirements

AME delivered HVAC controls and modernisation work across the district, with the aim of putting every building on one platform that district facilities staff can operate without a building by building learning curve. The work included the following.

• HVAC controls and modernisation work across 22 district buildings.
• More than 10,000 hardwired building management system points integrated and commissioned across the district.
• More than 300 Univent classroom units installed, improving airflow and energy performance in learning spaces.
• Rooftop unit replacement at School 17.
• Controls work at the Clifton stadium locker room.

Ongoing Partnership

The district agreement renews annually and covers ongoing controls support alongside discrete capital work as individual schools come up for mechanical replacement. It has been renewed for the 2026 to 2027 school year. AME’s position is that of the incumbent controls contractor across the estate rather than a one-off installer.
