Lincoln Center, David Geffen Hall – New York, NY, USA

iBMS®

Customer and Site Information

David Geffen Hall is the concert hall on the Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. Its redevelopment rebuilt the auditorium and the infrastructure supporting it.

The mechanical systems in the hall have to hold temperature and humidity tightly enough to protect historic millwork, which is a conservation requirement rather than a comfort range.

Advanced Integration and Customer Requirements

AME delivered the building management system covering all mechanical equipment in the hall, on a condensed programme driven by a fixed public reopening date. The scope covered the following.

  • Boilers and central plant tie-in.
  • Air handling units, fan coil units and outside air units.
  • Variable air volume boxes and fin tube radiation.
  • Kitchen exhaust systems.
  • Fuel oil systems integration.
  • Precision temperature and humidity control to protect historic millwork.

Collaboration

The work was delivered with Turner Construction Company as general contractor.

Ongoing Partnership

AME’s position on the campus has broadened since. The firm holds maintenance coverage on the Central Mechanical Plant, David Geffen Hall and the Atrium, and separately on the Rose Building and on the New York Public Library at 70 Lincoln Center Plaza. A building management system upgrade at the Rose Building and controls work at Damrosch Park have both been awarded to AME.

Innovative Features

  • A full building management system delivered against a schedule set by a fixed public reopening date.
  • Humidity control tuned to conservation requirements rather than comfort ranges.
  • Central plant, hall systems and kitchen exhaust supervised from a single platform.
  • Campus wide maintenance coverage extending from the hall into the Central Mechanical Plant and adjacent buildings.
